Dear clients and coworkers,
Last year, the Nobel Prize in Literature was not awarded. This year, the Swedish Academy awarded two writers: Polish laureate Olga Tokarczuk and Austrian laureate Peter Handke. Of the two, Peter Handke is the better known in Portugal. As early as the 1970s, João Lourenço, head of the Teatro de Alberto, considered Hendke’s Insulto ao Público(Offending the Audience) to be a light of freedom during the dictatorship. Today, Peter Handke’s works are still adapted and performed at the theatre. But Handke is also an extremely relevant figure in the film industry – the 10th Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival’s programme was dedicated to him. In November 2019, many will have the chance to watch a series of films based on his works in Lisbon. This extraordinarily creative author’s body of work includes over 70 books, many of which have been translated into Portuguese. Many, however, have yet to be discovered.
You may find some of Peter Handke’s works in the following link: https://www.wook.pt/autor/peter-handke/21310.
Yours
