Caros Clientes e Colaboradores!
Há alguns anos, Timor-Leste estava nas bocas do mundo – afinal de contas, foi o primeiro país a declarar independência no século XXI. Agora a situação tranquilizou-se, o que é na maioria das vezes bom sinal, já que aponta para menos conflitos que possam ser alvo do interesse da nossa comunicação social.
Ana Cardoso Pires, filha do escritor José Cardoso Pires, trabalha há vários anos para e em Timor-Leste. Viajou até Portugal com uma delegação de tradutores e pediu-nos que lhes mostrássemos como funciona uma empresa de traduções em Portugal. Tudo aconteceu no dia 9 de setembro, quando recebemos a Ana e os tradutores aqui na Onoma. Trabalham para o Governo em Díli e as suas línguas de trabalho são sobretudo o Tétum, o Inglês e o Português. Mostraram particular interesse nos glossários e na criação de bases de dados. Na verdade, foi também para nós uma tarde muito interessante e empolgante. Esperamos ter podido contribuir com algumas sugestões úteis para os nossos colegas de Timor-Leste.~~

Dear Clients and Collaborators
A few years ago, everyone talked about East Timor– after all, it was the first country to declare independence in the 21st century. Currently, the situation calmed down, which is generally a good sign, as it points to fewer conflicts that may draw media attention.
Ana Cardoso Pires, daughter of writer José Cardoso Pires, has been working for several years for and in East Timor. She travelled to Portugal with a delegation of translators and requested us to show them how a translation company operates in Portugal. This took place on September 9th, when we welcomed Ana and the translators at Onoma. They work for the Government in Dili and adopted mainly Tetum, English and Portuguese as working languages. They took particular interest in the glossaries and in database creation. In fact, it was also a very interesting and exciting afternoon for us. We hope we have contributed with some useful suggestions for our colleagues in East Timor.

Liebe Kunden und Mitarbeiter!
Einige Jahre war Osttimor in aller Munde, schließlich war es der erste Staat, der im 21. Jahrhundert unabhängig wurde. Nun ist es ruhiger geworden, und das ist meistens ein gutes Zeichen, denn es bedeutet weniger Konflikte, die unsere Medien interessieren könnten.
Ana Cardoso Pires, die Tochter des Schriftstellers José Cardoso Pires, arbeitet seit Jahren für und in Osttimor. Und sie reiste mit einer Delegation von Übersetzern durch Portugal. Sie bat uns, ihnen zu zeigen, wie ein Übersetzungsbüro in Portugal funktioniert. Am 09.09. war es dann soweit, und wir konnten Ana und die Übersetzer bei Onoma begrüßen. Sie arbeiten für die Regierung in Dili und übersetzen vor allem mit Tetum Englisch und Portugiesisch. Besonders interessiert waren sie an Glossarien und dem Aufbau von Datenbanken. Aber auch für uns war es ein anregender und spannender Nachmittag. Wir hoffen, dass wir den Kollegen aus Osttimor einige Anregungen geben konnten.
